Baltlink started its actual operations in the beginning of 1989 by international trucking, being the first competitor of Sovtransavto, a monopolist road transport company operating in the Soviet Union. From 20.11.1990 AS Baltlink is registered in the Republic of Estonia, and it operates pursuant to the laws of the Republic of Estonia. Until spring 1995, alongside heavy trucking Baltlink was also engaged in the transport of parcel goods between Finland and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The company also provided related terminal and warehousing services and the service of declaration and forwarding of goods. By the end of 1995 the principal activity of AS Baltlink was international transport and sales, mediation and technical maintenance of Volvo trucks. In June 1996, upon demand of the Swedish parent company "Volvo", AS Balvo, a subsidiary of AS Baltlink, was founded, which took over the activity related to Volvo trucks. |
